Psalm 104:1-24
It’s time to gradually let go of the fervent green days of summer for yet another year. We welcome the new darker colors, the often-misty mornings that replace our early and warm sunrises. The feeling of change is in the air. I love getting up on a fall morning , walking outside and feeling that chill in the air. Ah, fall is on its way! In my work as a hospice chaplain, I have the opportunity to visit with people whose season of life is changing rapidly. We remember the words of Ecclesiastes 3:1-11, that for everything, there is a season.
Autumn is a favorite season for me. It comes with a lot of beauty, and I can see the changing all around me. Joyce Rupp said these words: “A new season is moving in. We can sense its presence in the coolness of the breeze and the quick gusts of wind. Inside of us there are also quiet changes sending us their signals to let go … in the deepest part of who we are, there is always the call to continue the transformation process.”
God of Autumn, your presence gives me hope.
